A beat maker that runs in your browser
Baby Beatmaker is a free online synthesizer and drum machine. Play melodies on the keyboard, program a sixteen-step beat across eight voices — kick, snare, clap, hat, open hat, tom, cowbell, and bass — then loop it all live. Every sound is generated in real time with the Web Audio API, so there is nothing to download and no account to create.
Add per-step accents, mute or solo any voice, and swap between 808, acoustic, and lo-fi drum kits. Lock the keyboard to a scale and key so every melody stays in tune, stretch patterns from 8 to 32 steps, fine-tune the pitch and decay of each drum, and add space with the master reverb. Record your keyboard playing straight into the sequencer, save patterns into slots, chain them into a song, share a beat with a single link, or export a pattern file or a finished WAV. It works the same on a phone, tablet, or laptop — just tap and go.

Tips & Strategy
Start with kick on 1 and 9, snare on 5 and 13. That's the classic four-on-the-floor backbone — once you've got it, the rest of the kit can be played against it freely.
Use accents sparingly. Tap-cycling a step into accent mode lets one hit cut through the mix. If everything's accented, nothing is — usually one or two accents per bar is plenty.
Lock the keyboard to a scale before you start. Scale lock turns every key into a "right" note, so you can play with feel instead of theory. Try minor pentatonic or natural minor for a moody vibe; major for happy.
Build patterns in pairs. Make A and B versions of your beat with one small change — extra hat, dropped kick, a clap accent — and chain them in song mode. The tiny variation keeps a long beat from feeling repetitive.
Use reverb tastefully. A little reverb glues percussion together; too much turns it to mud. If the snare starts sounding washed-out, pull it back.
Record the keyboard over your beat. Once you have a drum loop you like, hit record and play a melody live on top — it captures the timing of your performance, so the result feels human.
